Chess In Neighboring Areas
Tucson isn't the only place to play chess. New Mexico holds some nice tournaments and should not be overlooked. It is a very pleasant experience to make the scenic drive to Albuquerque and play a tournament with the friendly folks who call New Mexico home. Add to this that Norther New Mexico is always much cooler that on our beloved desert floor, the climate is always a big draw in my opinion!Once in a while there is a tournament in the Southern part of the state which makes for a much easier drive. For example; The Alamagordo Chess Club has announced their first event: A chess tournament on Saturday August 20th.: "The Las Cruces Quads" - Full details are up on nmchess.org under "Upcoming Events" with a link to an entry form and driving directions.
