About Us...
Ed Yetman has been a major figure in chess organization in
Southern Arizona for many years. He is constantly working hard to
provide resources for players to get in USCF rated chess. Be it in the
form of an actual two or three day tournament to one day events
featuring Game-In-30, he is always working to make sure that
over-the-board play does not go the way of the Dodo bird. With the popularity of playing chess on the internet, over-the-board (a.k.a. OTB) play went through a bit of a decline for a few years. Ed saw this happening and went against the grain of modern trends to give die-hard chess players some competition in face-to-face encounters.
In OTB play Ed has held the title of Expert and has earned the title of Master on the Canadian Correspondence Chess League.
I credit Ed with his desire to keep OTB and I feel that without him chess in Tucson would be a very bleak affair to say the least.
As the webmaster for the Yetman Brothers site and Stoopid Bishop I have known Ed for many years and worked with him in his efforts to keep OTB play alive and kicking, often at great costs to my rating. Still, I feel it is necessary for aspiring players to play OTB chess.
